About The Park
Oakhampton Park is not a hotel. It is a private country home where you will be warmly welcomed for your own exclusive home from home to relax and entertain with your family, friends, partners and colleagues.
This Georgian family property dating from 1734, has been completely renovated and is approached by a curving drive through its own parkland and is situated with a southerly aspect enjoying far reaching views over the lake and surrounding glorious countryside. The rear of the house is enfolded by a beautiful traditional terraced walled garden with a heated indoor pool, gym and sauna. The Elliott's have farmed the land for generations running an organic hill farm, with sheep, Red Devon and Angus cattle herds. They host a family shoot so there are game crops and you will often see a pheasant or two on a misty morning.
Wildlife is respected and encouraged on the land, with the small copses and woodlands left semi wild to encourage insect and bird life. If you take a walk around the park you will see owl boxes for our resident Tawny Owls, and in breeding season you will often hear them calling to each other.
Down by the lake you may be lucky enough to see a kingfisher or a heron, or a little stickleback in the water. Deer are frequent visitors, as are foxes and badgers. Several kinds of bat are resident in the roof of the stables and can often be seen hunting at dusk.
